Deputy Assistant Secretary Ethan Handelman was appointed in February 2021 by the Biden-Harris Administration. Before joining HUD, he was a Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of Housing and Community Investment, where he wrote amendments to the housing goals for the Federal Home Loan Banks. Ethan also spent seven years as Vice President for Policy and Advocacy at the National Housing Conference, finishing as Acting CEO. While there, he directed the policy agenda aimed at ensuring affordable housing for all, led national working groups, and testified before congress.
